BlackBerry Outage RIM Plunges Into Crisis

BlackBerry Outage RIM Plunges Into Crisis. If this survey a BlackBerry user Portal come true, then looks the future for the former status of Manager. Therefore, every fourth user plays with the idea to throw his BlackBerry in the ton, and to switch to the competition. The four days-running dropouts e-mail, browser and short messages have made even diehard fans of the small general purpose weapon demoralized.

BlackBerry Outage RIM Plunges Into Crisis

Nearly 9000 BlackBerry users took part in the survey of the site Crackberry.com until Thursday. And also if expressed some understanding of the technical errors, so the biggest mishap in the company’s history has made research in motion (RIM) in the mark the device manufacturer.

The former leader threatening to lose the following Smartphone wave: While you climb the sales of Apple’s iPhone and the various Android smartphones new records and comes Microsoft with its Windows phone in the offensive, the BlackBerry sales declined in the second quarter for the first time. The share of all Smartphone sales fell as the market researcher Gartner data compared to the same period from 18.7% to 11.7%.

Already, single RIM shareholders want to sell the company, or break down into its individual parts. “Blackberry would fit in well with Microsoft or Facebook”, said Vic Albioni, Chief of Jaguar financial. But also HP or Oracle would come into question. According to own statements, the Manager represents a group of investors with over eight percent of the voting rights. His word would thus have weight.

Could the investor enforce his ideas, that would be a blow to Mike Lazaridis. He has founded RIM and is until today of one of the chiefs. “I apologize for the downtime this week, he cried to his customers on Thursday in a video message. “We have many of you, but let me assure that we are working around the clock to solve this problem.”

Lazaridis’ appearance comes rather late. Especially on Monday, as the errors committed RIM moved out hardly any information about what was going on. Many customers felt in the rain left standing. Now white man: An important machines on the BlackBerry network was canceled, a back-up system not jumped on, and repair failed first. Countless unsent emails and text messages worldwide clogged the system. Only in the course of Thursday did the engineers to company information, to get the grip problem.

While the BlackBerry network considered indestructible. The mobile Internet communication on their own, highly secure data centers runs on the Smartphones from RIM. BlackBerrys were a few devices that still worked when crashed around it the telephone networks in New York after the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

The blackberries have now lost this aura of absolute reliability. While the failure for private users is annoying, the business customers in the worst case lose money when a message reaches them too late. And just in the business world many BlackBerry fans sit, also because quite a few managers are still on keyboards instead of the otherwise so common touch screens like on the iPhone.

“We work tirelessly to restore your confidence in us”, RIM CEO Lazaridis said. Whether that will succeed him and his team, remains to be seen.
